Newhall Mansion is located on ten acres of lushly planted grounds with historic outbuildings and two additional homes, the Warring Stone House (1934), and the Newhall Land Ranch House, a historic survivor of the St. Francis Dam Flood.
The climate here is capable of supporting both tropical and subtropical plantings. Mature growth is everywhere; some olive stands are over 110 years old. The gentle sloping terrain gives privacy and seclusion between orange orchards and the lovely rugged Los Padres mountains to the north.
Recent renovation and design projects included the relocation of a heated swimming pool providing an additional layer above the 3,000 square foot "ballroom", a terrace and loggia area for entertaining, eating and games.
As you enter the estate, you pass between two stately English street lamps which were cast for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Other buildings on the grounds are a Victorian carriage house, pump house and an original three-hole outhouse — naturally in the round, and all very ornate.
