Piru
Ventura County, California
Piru is a small turn-of-the-century community with close to 3000 people, and has changed very little since its first settlement. It is in the center of a lush, verdant valley of producers of fruits, vegetables, nursery trees and plants. Lake Piru, four miles above the town, has been improved over the last few years with expanded camping, boating and recreational facilities.
Piru is only 15 minutes from Valencia's newly developed commerce center and the new planned community of Newhall Ranch; it is 15 minutes from Santa Paula's renowned airport, known for its antique aircraft; 30 minutes from the beach at Ventura; and 40-55 minutes from Burbank and Los Angeles International Airport.
The County of Ventura is currently restoring its historic rail line east from the historic town of Fillmore to Piru. They plan to run the historic Fillmore & Western Railway to Piru and Rancho Camulos.
